A clogged filter makes your system work harder, costs you money, and pushes dust back into the air you breathe. It is also the easiest home maintenance job there is.
A simple schedule
Standard one inch filters should be changed every one to three months. Thicker media filters can often go six to twelve. Homes with pets, smokers, or allergies should lean toward the short end.
A quick way to check
Hold the filter up to a light. If you cannot see light through it, it is time. Write the date on the frame when you swap it so you never have to guess.
